Excelsior Ideas
“Excelsior” is Latin for “Ever Onwards and Upwards”. In addition to being one of Stan Lee’s best known comic book endings, it is a reminder or calling to mankind that we are made for better things, and that we can always strive to be better and improve society.
Excelsior Ideas is a place to explore this concept in depth, and look into potentially controversial subjects with a goal of finding a more objective or balanced perspective. Our goal is not to reach universal agreement, but to encourage people to think and advocate for solutions that improve the most lives effectively.
Although this site is not inherently political, many of the topics we discuss either have political overtones, have become political or divisive themselves, or involve political action in some manner. Since we are not a purely objective news agency, that means at times we may single out a political party or figure as an example (good or bad). We are not affiliated with any political party, registered as independents, average out as moderates, and fall anywhere on the spectrum from conservative to progressive depending on the issue.
Our desire is to approach each topic as a blank slate – perhaps with a hypothesis, but setting aside our preconceived notions so that we can properly research it from all perspectives and reach a rational conclusion to share as a starting point for further discussions with the wider community.
